The Parkfest celebrates its 20th birthday on the 11.8.2018. In 1998 it was organized by the Equal Opportunities Officer of the district of Friedrichshain and the Subcommittee Lesbischwule Local Politics and took place in the framework of the 150th anniversary of the Volkspark Friedrichshain at the swan lake.
Since 2001 the Parkfest has been organized by the Worker’s Welfare Association (AWO) Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with much love and engagement and attracts more than 5000 people to the open air cinema. With this event the AWO and the planning group working on a voluntary basis want to bring not only queer people but people from all backgrounds together to discourage prejudices and exclusion at work and in everyday life through culture, information and not least through conversation.
The many associations and institutions from the Berlin community do their part in creating a pleasant atmosphere while presenting their work at stands on this rather non-commercial platform.
On stage there is a cultural program with live bands and DJ sets. The closing party will take place in the evening at Große Freiheit 114.
